The fastest way to understand the difference between a weak and a strong methodology is through direct comparison. These three examples span different engineering branches and show exactly what needs to change.
Example 1 — Civil Engineering: Compressive Strength Testing
I made concrete cubes and tested them. The cubes were cured and then crushed to check the strength. We used M20 concrete. The results were recorded.
Concrete cube specimens (150 mm × 150 mm × 150 mm) were cast in triplicate for each mix proportion in accordance with IS 516:1959. Preprocessing involved removal of 3.2% null entries, normalisation using min-max scaling, and categorical encoding via one-hot encoding. The dataset was split into training (70%), validation (15%), and test (15%) subsets using stratified random sampling to preserve class distribution. A Random Forest classifier was selected over Logistic Regression and SVM due to its robustness to feature collinearity and native handling of non-linear boundaries.
